What is RSS?


RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. Basically, RSS allows you to directly deliver your content to all interested parties… don’t come to us; we will deliver the information to you or your website.


It syndicates your content. It lets you send updated headlines and brief summaries to your subscribers. In a nutshell; it’s simply a more efficient way to get your content ‘out there’.

For web site administrators, RSS feeds provide an easy way to advertise new content on their sites without the headaches and hit-or-miss nature of mass email newsletters.


RSS feeds allow people to choose the content that they wish to view. RSS is a way of syndicating content, which means having all the information that you are interested in together in one central location.


To create an RSS feed you have two choices. First, you can code your own feed by using XML or you can consider using a software application that creates the XML for you.


You can create an RSS Feed without coding it yourself by using an easy to use software applications that can format your XML.


One example is FeedForAll.


You can also code your own RSS Feed.


Just like HTML code XML code contains open and close tags to designate the title, description and link. They are enclosed in brackets just like standard html. The close tag contains a forward slash.


The above just scratches the surface of what RSS is and can do; for example RSS also forms the basis of the software used to create many online ‘blogs’ or weblogs.


1. How do I Get My OWN RSS Feed?


First, you need to get an RSS Feed for your site. There are several ways to do this. Let’s just stick with the easiest. You can use a site like www.blogger.com and start a Blog on your site’s topic or any topic that interests you.


Creating a blog with sites like Blogger (owned by Google) or Bloglines (recently acquired by Ask Jeeves) is quick, fast, and painless. Within minutes you can have your own blog up and running.


This Blog will also supply you with an RSS Feed that you can place on your site. Get a XML or RSS orange button and place it on your site. Link it to your RSS Feed url - this is your atom.xml link if you’re using Blogger.


You can also use a MyYahoo button so visitors can add your feed to their MyYahoo. Each time a subscriber opens their MyYahoo site; your RSS Feed will be updated.


You can also add ‘MyMsn’ and ‘Bloglines’ buttons on your site. Plus others, give your visitors every opportunity to subscribe to your RSS Feed or Blog, and you will see a marked increase in visitors to your site.


2. How Do I Place Other RSS Feeds On My Site?


Have a cool RSS Feed from your favorite site and you want to place that Feed’s content on your own site. How is it done?


It’s a lot easier than you think!


There are several ways, but we’ll again stick with the easiest way. If you just want to place headlines on your site - try a free service like www.feedburner.com and you will get a headline animator. This will display the RSS feed’s headlines with links to the content.


If you want to place other content from a feed on your site - one of the easiest ways I found is to use this free site: www.bigbold.com/rssdigest/


This site will generate the source code (html or javascript) that you need to place into your webpages. It’s good because it gives your code in several options: Javascript, Php file, and Iframe.


Keep in mind that Search Engines cannot or don’t read javascript so if you want this daily updated content to be indexed please be aware of this.


Just take this code and add it your webpages where you want this content to go.


3. How do I place MSN Search Results Directly on My Site?


MSN has come out with their Beta Program using RSS in their search. You can now place RSS search results directly onto your website. It can enrich your site with daily updated content.


And it’s quite simple to use; just add “&format=rss” at the end of the URL in your MSN search engine query. For example, to get an RSS Feed for ‘tsunami relief’ you would use this url: http://beta.search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=tsunami+relief&format=rss


4. How do I place Yahoo Results on my site?


In Yahoo the URL would be slightly different:


http://news.search.yahoo.com/news/rss?p=tsunami+relief&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&x=wrt


Of course, in both cases you can change ‘tsunami+relief’ with the keyword or phrase of your choice to suit your website’s content.

5. What are Tags? How can I use them on my site?


Tags are more or less keywords for blogs and you should take advantage of them to bring targeted traffic to your site or blog.


Tags have hit the radar lately because Technorati, which indexes 4.5 million blogs, started sorting blog posts by using tags.


They have created a folksonomy, drawing tags from different sources, mainly Flickr.com which sorts or groups pictures and from del.icio.us — where you create a tag when you bookmark a page.


Or if your blogging software supports categories; this will be recognized by Technorati as a tag.


If you want to create a ‘tag’ it’s very simple; just place this code in your blog:

Three basic principles of successful real estate investing

Those who, like myself, have been active in real estate investing for some time know that the formula for success relies on being able to work in the real estate field at more than one level.

The reason for this is that real estate, by nature, is very volatile. To rely on exactly one strategy or one area is akin to putting all our eggs in one basket and no real estate investor worth his salt wants to be caught out like that which is why if you are really serious about making money in real estate and leaving the nine-to-five routine behind you will want to work in at least three areas simultaneously.

First, naturally, you will work alone, closing deals on either single-family dwellings or multi-family dwellings depending on the real estate investment strategy you have decided to follow (and how to best choose and why is a subject complex enough to warrant an entire article on its own so I will not even touch upon it here).

At the same time you will want to have set up the way you work so that you can become aware of emergent, domestic, real estate markets at a stage that is early enough for you to take advantage of them, get in there, close the deals and get out as the market matures and profits begin to dwindle.

Then, as a final step, you will have to work with Syndicate real estate investments which will allow you to minimise the risks involved as far as your stake is concerned and still get the money you need to close deals and make money for yourself and those in the Syndicate you are fronting.

The reason you need to have all three strands in your bow is that, by working this way, you ensure that you are recession-proof and capable of making money irrespective of the state of the market.

Real Estate investing does not require a degree in astrophysics in order to succeed provided you are quick to diversify, are able to develop a networked way of working that alerts you to good deals, can apply common sense and a certain flare for creative thinking when it comes to closing deals that maximise the profit involved and are not afraid to work in a focused, controlled manner.

Best Mlm Companies - A Recipe For Failure From An Insider

I had invested my money, my dedication, my enthusiasm and the biggest amount of time imaginable - 60-70 hours a week!  I had a laser-like focus on my goal - to succeed in my Mlm Home Based Business.

I had been made redundant from my job as general manager of a high-end fashion label as the recession hit the fashion industry hard and I saw this as an opportunity to work from home and believed whole heartedly this would be my new career.

I approached my home based business with a ferocious intensity, I attended every conference call, I bought leads, I bought advertising campaigns, I networked, I used and sold the products, I did three-way calls with my upline, I even built a successful downline and ten months into my business, I sat in my office and cried.

Something was seriously wrong - no matter what I did, I was still spending more on the mandatory monthly product order than I was earning.

The other members in my team were starting to ask me what they were doing wrong, they had no team members and no sales. Why wasn’t it working for them? They were doing everything they had been trained to do and still had no sales.  They started to lose interest.

My doubts grew alarmingly.  ”Why is it that so many people fail and end up throwing the towel in?  If the products are great and the compensation plan is geared for the distributors to make money, why are people leaving?

I put all these questions to my upline and it was made clear that I had not been “taking enough action”.   Massive action would solve all my problems and just to keep going.  I couldn’t figure out where I was going to get more hours in the day to take more action!

My husband Mike was so supportive he dropped thousands of fliers for me - he believed in me and was sure I would find a way to make it happen.

And then…………..I had an “aha moment”.  Taking into account my background as a general manager, project manager, business analyst and various other business related positions, I thought “if I can’t make this business work, how on earth could I expect the people I was recruiting (most of them were from a non-business background) to make money and be successful.”

Yet, here I was filling them up with all the reasons why this was a wonderful opportunity for them, how they could stay at home and work around their kids and earn a good income.

I knew in my heart if I couldn’t do it, they didn’t have a hope in hell.  And this was my turning point. I honestly couldn’t find it in my heart to keep recruiting unsuspecting souls thinking this was their opportunity of a lifetime.

I didn’t want to be the one to empty their credit card and leave them with shattered dreams, only to become a statistic and join the 97% of network marketers who never make it. My faith in the company had gone -sure the products were good but the business model was crap.

I had learned my lesson (after ten months of hard graft) and I felt grateful to realise it wasn’t my fault.

A solid business model is the only type of business where both parties win.  And there was only one side here with all the winnings.

The business model of pushing product onto people doesn’t work any more - it’s old school.  So when someone tries to sell you their business opportunity and implies that this is the key to your financial future, just hold off, take a few steps back and ask lots of questions.

Research the business model and the marketing system and find out exactly how the compensation plan works.

So, we went back to square one.  Mike and I went looking for a really solid business. We researched for three months and we found a company with a great stand alone product, a compensation plan that pays large commissions up front and a proven cutting-edge marketing system to support it.

Evolv is a brand New Mlm Company that hit the online scene this past October. Who is Evolv? Evolv is a “Revolutionary”‘ bottled water company developed by a team of scientists and practised entrepreneurs. Their unique selling point is the increased oxygen properties infused with this natural spring water. This Network Marketing Company is putting heavy focus on the Internet and online strategies such as Web 2.0. The Evolv management team is made up of Brent Hicks, Trey White and Anne Bodak Smith. They promote that they have 75 years of collective experience in the Mlm Industry. With every living being needing water for survival, the bottled water industry is currently an $8 billion a year industry, and that is just in the United States. You can see why Evolv and Trey White would want to capitalize on this market especially in the MLM field. Did you know that 24% of bottled water is really just tap water? Tap water actually undergoes more scrutinized testing than bottled water. Seems like it should be the other way around, right? After reading countless Evolv sales pages, we must commend them on their strong push towards online marketing strategies. For example, their Facebook and Twitter ideas really show that they are paying attention to Social Media marketing. Another aspect they are developing is SEO and PPC training. It fantastic to see an MLM company leading with these cutting edge online marketing strategies from the beginning. Although there are not many details about the specifics of the online marketing strategies that will be offered, it is good to see that it has been presented in their initial game plan. It is a refreshing change to see company providing training on the online marketing strategies, however they do still point all of the traffic back to a self replicated MLM company website. This might be the best tactic for Evolv but not for the Independent Mlm Business owner. Evolv’s comp plan is set up like a traditional Binary structure with new codings to build both depth and width with a binary volume and an executive check match. Evolv has your typical Builder Bonuses, Fast Start (Initial Order) Bonuses, and Rank Advancement Bonuses. There is also, what they call a “DNA Coded Bonus”‘ which to the untrained eye looks very complicated. It seems intentionally complex as to confuse new distributors so they are unsure of how exactly they are getting paid. The Evolv sales page markets the compensation plan as an infinity paying pay plan. Upon an in depth review of the comp plan, its states on several occasions that you are capped out in many of the bonuses. Cost: $55.00 + tax/shipping per case (24 bottles). With the average case of bottled water ranging from $3.00 to $6.00 some might think this could be a hard sell. Obviously you have to pay more for the oxygen infused water, but doesn’t $55.00 for a case of water seem a bit unreasonable? My views are objective since we have not personally tried the product or seen anyone that has. So maybe it is worth the high price, but we’ll let you make that decision. If you are considering joining Evolv, how are you going to distinguish yourself from all the other new Distributors? Promoting an Evolv website is not the way. How are you going to avoid looking like just another Prelaunch Start-up MLM company rep that we all get spam from on a daily basis?
