A Review of the Protege Financial Multi-level Marketing Program

The company Protege Financial first registered their domain name in June 2006, although this is the first time I’ve heard of this company. They are based out of Valencia, CA. I’m very familiar with that area of Orange County being a Southern California native myself. The main reason this company exists is to provide their clients with investment vehicles that will not go away despite the bad economy.

The partners that make up this company are Michelle Seward, Scott Foulk and Mark Francovich which claim to have 4 decades of investment and financial know how behind them. The owners also state they launched Protege Financial because they really care about their clients and set this company up with an Mlm Compensation Plan to help spread the word across the United States. Apparently they officially just launched July 4th 2009.

Apparently these 3 partners have already helped thousands of clients. When I visited their website they do have their actual office address, phone and fax number prominently visible on their website, so it appears they are not hiding. One of the main products they offer their clients are “Tax Free Income” vehicles that people can use to help hedge the low wages they could experience when they retire.

When I visit the Protege Financial website, I don’t see any credential logos like CFP (Certified Financial Planner) or BBB (Better Business Bureau) or anything like that nor any Internet Trust Logos. I’m not a professional Website Designer and I could throw this website up within one night easy. The company that designed their site is based out of Idaho. Also I couldn’t find details on how much reps get paid for referrals or the MLM Compensation Structure.

In addition, the website just had those generic type paid videos which appear to be a standard voiceover. I’ve heard the same voice on many other voiceovers used for other companies so they don’t sound original or sound like they come from the owners. And no pictures of the owners on the website, not even with their bio statements.

This being the end of August 2009 and the fact that they launched launched July 4th 2009, I assume this site would have been completed by now. Add this to the fact that it is an investment company to be honest almost terrifies me. Money is hard to come by these days, and on the occasion when I am able to save a grand or so I like to put it in a Mutual Fund setup by my bank which is a major bank in the US.

Protege Financial does offer a free consultation. When you get to the website, all you need to do is fill out a form and someone will end up calling you back. And if you live in or are visiting Southern California, they have Career Opportunity Meetings every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00pm (as of the time of this writing) Pacific Time.

I noticed a testimonials section on the Protege Financial website. It had 7 testimonials with just two initials under each name. Finally the company offers a free ebook just by filling out your Name, Email, City and State. This ebook is supposed to educate you on the basic types of Investment Vehicles that are out there.

I’m not accusing this company of being a scam. They could very well be experienced financial planners with little experience on establishing credibility on the internet with trust logos, pictures of themselves, write-ups of successful reps in their company, etc.. But this is even more important in Network Marketing. I would be extremely cautious here. If anyone has had any experiences, good or bad with this company, we would like to hear about them and you can post your comments on our blog.

The Number One Reason To Join Gdi

And what if each person in my group signed up an average of five people (because some won’t sign up any, and others will go crazy and sign up fifty or more)? In that case, I would eventually be earning a residual income of well over $15,000…per month.

What would happen if you did the work necessary to sponsor twenty-five, or thirty, or forty or fifty or more people?

Mlm Business- Opportunity or Scam?

Are all Mlm Businesses legit opportunities, or are they all scams? Before jumping into any MLM business, you may be cautious of the stigma that comes along with it. You know, the whole idea of it being a scam or that you have to be at the top of the company to make any money.

Well, I’m going to get to the bottom of whether or Not Mlm, or Multi-level Marketing, businesses are great opportunities or scams. And whether or not you can make money in the company, even if the Mlm Company is 30 years old.

First, let me say that there are thousands of great Mlm Companies that are provide an opportunity for the “average person” to become financially free. They provide quality products. And offer contests that allows its consumers and distributors to enjoy maximum benefits from its products use in a friendly competition, that usually awards cash prizes and free products to people who achieves the most from its use.

These companies understand that the survival of their companies lies in its consumers, or people who consistently purchase products and services. Therefore, they emphasize on finding customers and consumers. And have deep passion for helping people who’ll benefit from its products use. So, to say the least, most MLM companies are legit opportunities.

However, there are some MLM businesses out there that are scams. They fall into two categories of scams. The pyramid scheme and the ponzi scheme.

The pyramid scheme, which many people confuse a legit Mlm Opportunity with, is a scheme that pays people solely for enrolling someone, usually without any products of services being delivered.

To identify whether or not a MLM business is a pyramid scheme, check for the following:

1. If the company keeps implying that it is not a Pyramid scheme,

2. An income stream that pays primarily for enrolling people,

3. A company with little to no information on products or services,

4. the claim that only people who join in the company’s early stage will make any money.

An important fact of a MLM business being a legit opportunity and not a pyramid scheme is that you can generate money from sales of products and services, without the consumer having to join or enroll in the company.

The other scam, called the Ponzi scheme, is when a company brings in enrollments, without having any products or services, and uses the money gained from the transaction to pay off the people at the top. According to the FTC, or Federal Trade Commission, “…there is an expression that nicely summarizes this scheme: It’s called “stealing from Peter to pay Paul.”

So, to save yourself the time, trouble, and money, review the MLM company you’re wanting to take part in, and make sure they have real products and services.

ACN offers services like videophones, digital phone service, mobile and high speed internet and fixed telephony. Landline telephone service, both long distance and local is offered. VoIP or voice over internet protocol, such as video phone service, satellite television, DSL internet, dial-up internet, home security services and wireless services are also provided to consumers and small businesses.

The Models

There are variations that depend on the country. There are 3 models followed by the services offered by ACN. The first model is the reselling of services branded by ACN that starts in an incumbent provider. It is focused via a long distance or local telephone, wherein ACN purchases local telephone service from a provider like AT&T then bills customers under its own name. The expansion of deregulation internationally triggered ACN to operate outside the United States.

The second model is done with ACN acting as a sales agent for the service provider. An ACN representative will sell the service, but servicing, billing and order accomplishment are all done by the provider. ACN will resell wireless plans from all big wireless providers and bigger home security providers. The third model is done by selling services branded and provided by ACN. These include videophone and voice over internet protocol wherein ACN will resell consumer tools made according to the specifications.

This seems to be a legit opportunity.

However, the MAJOR PROBLEM I see is the marketing plan. This company teaches its reps to prospect family & friends, do home parties, buy leads and distribute brochures.. I don’t believe this to be a solid marketing plan. With the Internet, business can be leveraged to reach millions across the globe.
