Secrets of Building Mlm Downlines - Part One

This article will show you how to quickly build Multilevel Marketing (MLM) downlines.

Being an MLMer you will come across a situation where you find a person who may be able to bring in a lot of members into your downline, but they may not feel that they are currently in a position to participate.

In this situation you can use the advice in this article to influence them into joining and expanding your team.

Here are some options:

1. Firstly do your best to get them without any promises.

or

2. Promise to put X amount of members under them.

or

3. If it is possible with your MLM, open a few positions under yourself. Sign your self up for the first three, four or five positions one under the other. Your first five members are therefor yourself, all placed one under the other in a straight line. (If your MLM doesn’t allow this then you may like to sign up some close relatives

You then start building your downline under your bottom position under you. Let’s say you make a group of 10, 20 or 30 members under your bottom position. You then find someone who can bring in a large downline or has a large list of contacts, a heavy hitter.

Offer that person one of your positions under you as a means of sweetening their decision making processes. How you arrange the proposal is up to you. You may give him or her the position straight away or transfer the position to him or her after X amount of people join under that position.

Of excuses available to any current MLMer, his or her company won’t allow them to join another Mlm Company is the most used. He or she can volunteer another person. (See my coming article on Japanese MLMers).

Now, let’s say you own five positions under you and under those five positions you have 30 members. You find the Heavy Hitter and he or she agrees to your proposal.

Which of the five positions are you going to give that person? I’d give the Heavy Hitter the bottom free position you own just above the 30 members. Depending on the structure of your pay plan you may want to place him or her into a different position.

Don’t go explaining that you have five positions to which you would give him or her one. Just tell them that you have, not “one” but “a” position available if they can give you a quick decision. For large list owners building a downline may only be the click of a mouse depending on the target area that the list falls into.

You may at times have the opportunity to meet members in other MLMs. Find out who their sponsor is etc. You are always looking for bigger fisherman with a bigger net. Keeping lists of big players is a great thing to have. With a list like that you can move a whole lot faster. This will also be covered in my Japanese MLMer article.

If you like this approach and it works for you, then you will want to repeat it for your other positions or open more positions and build under them and repeat the above. HELP!! How do I report an illegal alien? ?

I live in Orange County, California. There is a 21 years old illegal alien in my town driving w/o a license and showing what seems like pedophile interest in my friend’s younger sister. He’s not the typical hispanic laborer who crossed the border. He’s an East Asian. If I want to report this, do I report this to the INS? Also, I do not know his exact address, but know his phone number and the company he works for (but its an Mlm Company so he doesnt report to a physical workplace.) Would the INS find his address just with his phone #? Is INS obliged to take action if I report this person to them just like police officers have to take action when a criminal is reported? And what happens if INS knocks on his door? would such an event guarantee his deportation? Also.. he lives with his parents who have green card. would this matter at all?

What is the best way to recruit for a MLM?

I just joined a brand New Mlm and no one has really explained how to recruit or market the company and/or product. The more research I have done the more confused I get. The internet is full of people selling their way, but if I had a lot of money to start, I wouldn’t have put my hopes into this company. And I don’t need more answers that will cost me hundreds of dollars.

You have to learn to think slightly out of the box. For example, many people are out trying to preach the fruits of joining the Reverse Funnel System (a new lead converting system) but they go about it all wrong.

Instead of just using the company provided ads and doing the same thing as everyone else that has joined the company teh more successful marketers will use several methods to include:

Mlm Training - Why Your Prospects or Downline Won’t Do What You Ask Them

Whether you lead just a few or a few thousand people in your Mlm Business, there’s one very specific quality you must have. Develop this one quality and achieving Mlm Success will be A LOT easier.

If you do not tell the truth, your downline may be friendly to you…but they probably won’t follow you.

Truth means: that which is factual based on observable data.

There has been much written about truth, a lot having to do with philosophy and religion. I don’t wish to go there in this conversation. My only interest in the subject (as it pertains to the Mlm Industry) is that we, as a group, stop destroying our income and our reputation by not telling the truth.

I know telling the truth should go without saying, but I have to discuss it because it is one of the Ten Communication Qualities that make up a great communicator; yet also a major problem in the Network Marketing community that needs to be corrected for the MLM industry to grow to its fullest potential.

In 1991 my income dropped - like a brick falling from the top of a building - from a monthly gross of $68,000 to $16,000 - just because people were not telling the truth.

A member of the media sneaked into my colleague’s business meeting and recorded the dialogue that occurred. Although it was a painful experience for me, the biggest loss stems from the CONSTANT number of people we repel because of not telling the truth.

Not only that, but every time we (I’m talking about me and you) don’t tell the truth, we feel icky inside. Observe a dog that has done something wrong - do they come strutting into the room? Not at all! They actually hide under the couch. Their ears and tail hang low. They don’t feel worthy. The same is true for us. That icky-ness actually causes us to not feel worthy that others follow our advice…and so they don’t.

Five broad categories of not telling the truth have gotten individuals and/or companies in trouble and have stopped them from growing to their fullest potential. They are listed below.

1. False income representation or suggesting others can earn a stated level of income.

2. Stating that a product or service can do something that has not been substantiated.

3. Promising someone (or yourself) something and not doing it.

4. Gossiping about others. Passing information to another that does not add value.

5. Building the business in a way that is not truthful…such as suggesting distributors create fictitious accounts or positions.

As per category one above (false income representation), if you don’t know what your upline earns don’t say what you think it is. If through the grapevine you’ve heard it’s “X” amount, and you feel you must state it, say: “The rumor is that she earns ___ amount; although I’ve not verified it.”

Say nothing you don’t know is absolutely true. This gives you tremendous credibility!

When you discuss income, discuss what the prospect wants - NOT what someone else is earning. If prospects state an income they want, tell them it’s doable here (provided it is). Then state, “Some people go to school and become the President. Some become billionaires, some sell illegal drugs and some draw a welfare check. It would be impossible to know what you’re going to do with what I teach you, but there is the potential to earn a substantial income if you choose to fully apply what you’re taught.”

Category two from above is unsubstantiated product claims; which have also gotten the Network Marketing Industry into trouble in the past. If you market a nutrition product, the current law (in the USA) is the DSHEA Act (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act), which states you can discuss what a product does, provided THAT PRODUCT is what has been proven to get results.

Most often an INGREDIENT has had some studies done on it (such as vitamin C) but your company’s product (that contains that ingredient) has NOT. Therefore, it is against the law to claim your product does ANYTHING!

Now, that doesn’t mean you can’t promote your product truthfully. You simply say something like, “The active ingredient (vitamin C) in Potent-C (an example of your company’s product) has demonstrated to increase/decrease ________ by X amount.” That way you’re not claiming your product does anything.

Telling stories of your success or others’ success with the product or the MLM business is also common. I’m not saying don’t do it. Nor am I saying to do it. Just keep in mind that the common way people get in trouble is from questionable claims reported by the media after coming in with hidden recording devices and capturing what you say. So, make sure you are not claiming anything that isn’t the truth.

If a friend went on your company’s product and stopped having migraine headaches, you honestly wouldn’t know if the reason was the product or the fact that she increased her water intake to take your product! You can’t determine what really helped her - so be very careful what you represent.

Category three is to keep your word once given. If you say you will be at a meeting at 6:45 - be there at 6:45. No excuses, just be there. If you say you’re going to help someone - help them. Keep your word. If for some reason you’re unable to keep your word, make it up to the person. Do something that shows you want to help.

But the most important person you must keep your word with is yourself. If you say you are going to bed at 11pm - go to bed at 11pm. If you say you will call five prospects a day, call five prospects a day!

When you’re honest with yourself and with others, people will trust you. This trust is what helps your MLM business to grow and be successful. My experience is that people will not follow someone they can not trust.

Tell the truth always and you will be on your way to experiencing passive income and time freedom in your MLM business.

Ytb (Your Travel Biz) Imploding?

YTB President and COO Andy Cauthen Resigns. According to YTB’s site, Andy Cauthen joined YTB in November 2004 as COO with a background in executive management, corporate operations, administration, marketing and sales.

He was named President of YourTravelBiz.com in October 2006. He has served as president and CEO of two major ($1 billion + asset based) companies, and has had P&L responsibility for a $200 million budget and 2,000 employees. 

 In an attempt to reduce losses YTB International laid off 49 workers temporarily at the end of January.  The employees were laid off for a 90-day period beginning on January 22nd and represent about 25% of the company’s work force.  No severance has been paid to the employees since the company hopes the layoffs are just temporary, but employees will still continue to receive their medical benefits according to Robert Van Patten, YTB’s president and CEO.

 Earlier this month John D. Clagg, Chief Financial Officer abruptly resigned.  John D. Clagg had been the Chief Financial Officer of YTB International Inc. since November 21, 2005 and its subsidiary, YourTravelBiz.com since December 15, 2003.

 Among the recent and continued struggles with YTB (Your Travel Biz) and YTB Outdoors, many of the current and former Directors and Leaders with YTB, now Zam Zuu are jumping from the sinking ship. The problem with YTB, now Zam Zuu started two years ago when the Attorney General for the state of California slapped a major lawsuit against YTB.

 In January, YTB Founder and “Coach” Tomer forfeited 355,000 shares of YTB stock for failure to meet established performance goals.  The bad news is that he had to forfeit them. But Coach is not alone. The founder’s son Scott Tomer forfeited the same amount as well.  And Kim Sorensen, head of the travel business forfeited the same amount of shares for performance failure too.

 YTB stock is basically worthless today, with almost 4 times average shares traded today, YTB’s stock slipped down to LESS THAN 3.5 cents per share! There were three very large selloffs today. I wonder what news might be coming soon. Who might be leaving?

 With many of the YTB top money earners or directors now gone, and enrollment at rock bottom levels; it seems that YTB is imploding. Things  looked real promising for this Travel Mlm Company just last year, but after a string of bad moves, YTB is a shrinking ship.
