Residual income is something that almost all people are aware of. They may not be familiar with the term itself, but they know what it is. Probably, you’re one of them, and have been thinking of this for a long time.
People are always looking for more ways to earn more money. At one point or another one, if not all of these thoughts have come to your mind:
What is the easiest way to earn money?
What job can I get that would require less time and energy and yet has the potential of earning much?
I’m tired of working for someone, what else can I do to earn money?
I want more free time but if I want more money, then I have to work more.
This is where residual income comes in. It is money earned from working less, and it is money that is continually earned though working less. The question is which type of money-making opportunity would be the best source of residual income. The answer to that would depend upon a lot of factors, namely:
a. How much you are able to shell out at the beginning; choose one that fits your budget.
b. How much time you can spend at the beginning stages; choose one that can accommodate your present living and working conditions.
c. How much earnings you desire to gain or are willing to settle with at the end; sweat more if you want more.
Below you will find sources of residual income. Bare in mind that those that could potentially bring the greatest monetary rewards tend to demand greater time and many times, greater amounts of investment at the beginning. So, the best type of residual income is dependent on your personal and monetary ability and limit.
ROYALTIES OR RIGHTS
These are earned from an invention or creation one sells to a company. Examples are book or story rights, musical recordings, etc. As long as those are used, you continually get paid.
INVESTMENTS
If you have set aside some money and are willing to spare it now, then you might want to invest in stocks and bonds. As long as these are kept, you earn dividends regularly.
DEPOSITS
Don’t just keep the cash at home, keep it in the bank. As long as you keep the account current, your deposits earn an interest. Deposits range from mere savings type to special types of deposit placements.
REALTY
If you have enough money to secure real properties, that would be wise. Real estate investments give high levels of residual income. As long as the properties are rented or leased out, and are maintained in good condition, you’re sure to get rental payments till the time you sell it yourself.
TIME-SHARE
Many companies sell ownership in the form of “time-share”. This tends to be more affordable than plain company stock acquisition. For example, instead of availing of your hotel membership accommodation, you can have that rented out for a fee.

This type is getting more and more popular by the minute. Those into MLM recommend products or services to others. Though earnings per product are lower compared with earnings from direct selling, it usually costs less to invest. Also, products tend to sell more because they are cheaper. For the person who wants to be his own boss, or for the businessman who wants lesser expenses, this is the answer. He can work at his own pace. Also, options for home business or online business can be set up thus reducing overhead expenses.
AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
Your business here is to refer people to a merchant’s website through yours. In turn, you get commissions for their purchases. Some companies pay you just to refer. It’s simple. All you have to do is place a link on your site to theirs. There are websites you can get for free, and with basic learning skills you can set one up in a short span of time. The off side is that, you’re not really sure if you’re being paid right.
Finding the best one that will work for you can be quite hard. Remember though that when opting for home businesses the products and or services being offered must have a wide market, meaning, the common or average person is likely to use it. Other good products and or services are those that are unique. They must not be widely available. That way the business is sure to keep its customers. These products and or services must be competitively priced. They must not be too expensive, but affordable.
And also, the company must have efficient support /training system. It’s hard to start out; you’ll need lots of help. Don’t be persuaded by mere promises. Do some research and lots of thinking. Will this business really deliver the promises it gives? Is it a stable one?

The definition of prospecting is “to search or explore a region for minerals, fossils, precious metals or mineral specimens.” Prospecting is about searching for something of value. In writing a prospecting script for your Network Marketing Business you are searching for the right prospect and not just any prospect.
The definition continues… “The traditional methods of prospecting involved combing through the countryside, often through creek beds and along ridgelines and hilltops, often on hands and knees looking for signs of mineralisation in the outcrop.” (Reference: Wikipedia – The Free Encyclopedia)
Traditionally prospectors painstakingly sifted and sorted through tons of soil and rock to find signs of gold. The same applies to your prospecting script it needs to sort and sift out the valuable prospect from the ‘tyre kicker’ or the time waster.
Not Everyone Is Your Prospect
In network marketing too often people understand prospecting as talking to everyone in sight about your product and then convincing them to buy. This is like gathering every rock in sight and then trying to convince the buyer they have gold in them! If we saw a prospector doing this we’d say he/she was crazy, right? Contrary to what you may have been told not everyone is your prospect.
Finding The Right Audience
Your prospecting script needs to find out if your prospect needs, wants or desires your network marketing product or service. If they are not ready to listen let them go. Don’t waste your time or theirs trying to convince them. Prospecting is about sorting, not convincing.
The first step in developing your prospecting script is to know who your target market is and who is not your market. To do this effectively you must know the benefits and value of your network marketing product.
Once you have defined your target audience then follow the steps to create your prospecting script:
1. Write a prospecting script that can attract the largest yes audience for your network marketing product. Later on you can target more specifically.
2. Write a prospecting script that gets their attention and holds their interest. To hold their interest:
(a) promise them something unbelievable or
(b) scare them to death (attention) and then promise to fix it (interest)
Do this ethically and with integrity and if you scare them to death then you better promise to fix it.
3. Write a prospecting script that gets a commitment or decision from your prospect to take action, based on their desire not yours. It has to be the prospect’s enthusiasm and desire that gets them to the briefing – not yours.
4. Create a prospecting script that sorts not convinces. Ask if they are serious. Let them fall out if they are not serious.
5. Our target is not to get closes at this point. We are only testing and sorting. It is about finding the right audience and getting them to do as you want.
6. Don’t mention your actual network marketing product, service or company. Don’t even use those words. Otherwise your prospect makes a judgment and then a decision. Your prospecting script needs to create curiosity. Only tell the benefit and value.

Is there anything worse than getting a surprise email from an out-of-control network marketer / MLMer?
It use to be the “3 foot rule”: anyone having a pulse that you come within three feet of, try to get that person into your business opportunity. Now, the rule has changed to: anytime you manage to get an email address immediately hit him/her with all you have. And, if you know that person is already an experienced network marketer / MLMer, OMG you have struck gold: get him/her into your business NOW.
Over the past week I have received more prospecting emails. Sound familiar:
Network Marketing Emailer: I would like you to check out my new website.
Translation: By urging you to check out my website, you will fall in love with my product / service and want to join my business.
Network Marketing Emailer: This is the Best Network Marketing Opportunity you will ever see. Ever.
Translation: By saying it is the BEST opportunity EVER, it should make you feel like what you are currently involved in is totally second rate compared to my opportunity.
Network Marketing Emailer: We can make you one of our top earning expert online marketers making 6 figures a month.
Translation: By making this hugei income statement I can make you feel like everything you have ever wanted is within reach. All you have to do is join my business.
Network Marketing Emailer: But you have to act fast as we are about to leave our pre-launch phase and we both know the explosive growth that is going to occur.
Translation: By providing a deadline I will definitely force you to sign up as fast as you can click through to my sales page. Who would not want to get in on a ground floor opportunity?
Give me a break along with the hundreds (thousands?) of others who grace your email list.
I decided to have a little fun so I responded to the email with a few questions of my own (the responses I received back are below my questions):
QUESTION: Sounds like a tremendous opportunity. How long have you been involved?
RESPONSE: I joined as soon as I heard about it two weeks ago but they have been in development for just over 2 years.
QUESTION: How many people have signed into your group over the past two weeks?
RESPONSE: We are not allowed to tell you this because so many have joined my group that it might seem like I am using this figure to entice you to join. (Great company line, right?)
QUESTION: You said in your initial email that your top earners were raking in 6 figures a month. Do you have a testimonial on some website I can look at or maybe an email address that I can contact them directly?
RESPONSE: No response.
First, if we are in a network marketing / Mlm Group, chances are pretty good we already have our own business and even if we wish to jump ship, we would probably prefer to jump on a ship that has been floating for a little while rather than one that has yet to be launched.
Second, we are immune to outrageous income claims. Chances are similar income claims were made to us to get us involved with our present primary business and we now realize that perhaps they were a tad unrealistic. So when it comes to income claims we probably zap off seventy to ninety percent.
Third, do not impose a deadline or else we will lose such a BEST opportunity EVER. If your opportunity is truly a worthwhile opportunity it will allow us to do our due diligence. If this is not possible, I will certainly pass.
Well, I have to run and check my email. Who knows, maybe there is a pre-launch email invitation to join a BETTER BEST opportunity EVER.

[MLM Industry] 2 Groups Of People To Network With!

During my first 2 years as a struggling home business entrepreneur dreaming of making big money and leading a free lifestyle, I made many mistakes. Some of those mistakes cost me money. Others caused me heartache, and a few almost completely destroyed my faith that an ordinary person like me could dream of extraordinary things.
But I have also made a handful of good decisions, and at the top of that list is my decision to become a member of the IAHBE. The IAHBE (http://www.iahbe.org) stands for International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs. In one sentence, it is simply “An online Home Business University with an extensive Learning Center packed with home business information, reports, articles, seminars and other content put under one roof.”
Being an exclusive paid membership resource, I was very half-hearted at first at the thought of spending a good $29 for something as intangible as “information”. As I once asked myself, many people now ask me this question: “Can’t I get this information for FREE on the Internet? So why do I need to pay for it?”
I have to admit that this is a valid question. And I have to agree that you CAN find similar (but not exact) information for free, scattered around the Internet. So why choose the IAHBE? How can it help you?
Let me tell you my story, from the point of view of an entrepreneur living in Malaysia, while trying to build a global business on the Internet. This is how it changed my life…
1) Your Words are the Holy Truth
Not too long ago, I used to think that my ex-Mlm Upline leader had my best interests at heart. I thought that the meetings I went for and the methods they preached were the only way to build and market a home based business.
That couldn’t be any further from the truth. For example, my upline thought me these lessons about prospecting:
a) Go door-to-door and ask people to come to the Opportunity Meeting…
b) NEVER mention that it is a “business opportunity meeting”…
c) Personally go to the prospect’s home and bring them to the opportunity meeting…
d) Make a surprise visit to your prospect’s home and show them the compensation plan…
e) Convince the prospect to join or buy the products
I could go on and on, but surely you get the point. In the IAHBE, I came across an article by Tom “Big Al” Schreiter about prospecting, and it changed my life forever. Here’s what the article said:
“Professionals sort, amateurs convince”
I wish words could express how that simple sentence changed my idea of prospecting forever…
The point is this: You can never rely on a single source of information. The IAHBE has so many good and qualified authors, every one of them a success in their own rights. Finally, I found a place where I can get so much high quality information, compare them, and decide for myself which ideas I want to follow.
If you’ve decided to climb the home business ladder to success, and you want to REALLY make sure that it’s not leaning against the wrong wall, you’ll need guidance from people who have “been there and done that” before you start your journey.
2) Running Around in Circles
Before I joined the IAHBE, I was scouting around the Internet for free home business tips and ideas. I found many, but the problem was that I now had to ask myself:
- Which Internet “guru” you should I listen to?
- What should I invest in?
- Which resources will help me achieve profitability and which ones won’t?
- What steps should I take to get where I want without busting my budget?
As I sat around cracking my head with these questions, I realized another undeniable factor to home business success, TIME! The fact is that there are only so many hours in a day, and why was I wasting time trying to wade through the sea of information called the Internet?
Information on the Internet, I learned, can never be fully trusted, especially if it’s FREE. There are so many “Fake Experts” out there pitching ideas they have not tried themselves, which can lead the new guy astray.
With the IAHBE on the other hand, I can be assured that I am getting only top quality information. All writers are screened and evaluated before their material is accepted by the IAHBE. You don’t get the fake ones here, and that’s a real relief.
3) Keeping My Home Business Costs under Control
As a budding home business entrepreneur, my survival depended on how well I controlled my meager finances and small capital. And yet, every business owner knows the costs associated when starting your business. For example, I had to spend on:
a) My personal growth - books, eBooks, reports
b) Advertising - ezine ads, PPC, leads and print media ads
c) Operations - PC software, productivity tools
I had, at that time, spent close to $3000 just getting started. Most that was spent on useless website traffic schemes, so called “targeted” home business leads, books, software and PPC advertising. But in my second month as a member of the IAHBE, I realized that I actually have hundreds of unused coupons, discounts and special offers for the same products and services that I paid the full price for elsewhere. How can they do this?
It’s a question of simple economics. What you cannot achieve as an individual, you can easily achieve as a group. Since the IAHBE has thousands of members, they can easily negotiate for special bulk discounts, free trials, and even free gifts from various suppliers, manufacturers and retailers.
4) A Simple Choice I had to Make
Many of my down line affiliates ask; is the IAHBE suitable for me? To this question I always ask them back:
“Do you want to spend time finding information, or do you want to spend time building a business?”
The reason is this; if you’re content in running around chasing information, instead of actually building a business, you don’t need the IAHBE. If you want to learn only from truly successful people, and get the information delivered to your doorstep, there is no smarter choice. After all, it only costs you around a dollar a day. Heck, even useless ‘lifestyle’ magazines cost more 
5) The Journey Makes a Full Circle
The only apparent weakness of the IAHBE was that it did not provide information specific to Malaysia, where I live and run my Internet business. Sure, the articles and tips were great, but when I needed information that applies to me as a Malaysian, I dreaded the thought of going back to the world of offline information retrieval.
In an email, I told them that they should be more “International” as their name suggests. To my honest surprise, three months down the road, they did indeed become truly “International”. And they were looking for writers to complement their search for information on Asia, especially in home business hotspots like India, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan and the Philippines.
Good things happen to those who persist. Not only did I get what I want, I was also appointed as a writer for topics related to Asia. Now I had to give back, and I could not be happier doing so.
So even if you are based in far corners of Asia, the International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs could be the smartest choice you make this year to help you improve as an entrepreneur, as a marketer, and as a human being.

Being a killer MLM article marketer is all about having a serious presence on the internet, and developing a strong internet presence is all about article submissions. We told you in Part 1 of this series how to write a great article and now we’re going to tell you how to submit your articles so that your prospects will be able to easily find you.
First, you’ll have to find the right article directories, the ones with the most traffic so that you can reach the greatest number of prospects. Most Successful Mlm article marketers agree that submitting each article to the to 5 or 10 directories is sufficient to get good traffic. To find listings of the best article directories, just Google “top 10 article directories.” This will pull up listings that give you the article directories with the highest traffic or rankings. Once you narrow the list down to the top 5 or 10 best suited for your articles, go to each one and sign up for an author account. You’ll be required to create a profile for each so set aside a little extra time for this step.
Once you’ve created all your accounts in your targeted article directories, all you have to do is submit your articles on a regular basis. Here are a few tips that pro article marketers use to help make the process easier and help their articles turn out better.
1) Preparation: Gather up 3 or 4 articles to submit at once. This will save you time. Before you begin the submission process, make sure you have a keyword-dense title, list of keywords, short description, and resource box (a short blurb about you and your contact information, including your website address) written for each article ahead of time. Most article marketers have these in a spreadsheet or text document from which they can easily copy and paste. This will save you a lot of time.
2) Resource Boxes: Some article directories will have a separate field for your resource box and others will not. For the directories that do not offer a resource box, be sure to include your resource box information at the end of your article, separated by some spaces or some characters, like a bunch of plus signs in a row.
3) Links: Many article directories will accept affiliate links (that is, links that have anything after the main domain name). If you want to direct prospects to an affiliate link, do what pro article marketers do. Go to a domain name service like GoDaddy and buy a relevant domain name, such as health4you dot com, and have it forwarded to your affiliate link. Then just list the domain name you bought from GoDaddy in your resource box instead of your affiliate link.
4) Text Cleaning Software: If you use a word processing program to write you articles chances are that the text of your article will contain special characters, like smart quotes (the quotes that curve inward rather than being perfectly vertical) or em dashes (the super long dashes). The bad news is that these will show up as funny characters on the internet and nothing makes you look like less of a pro article marketer than having that kind of junk in your article. To avoid this problem download any free text cleaning software. We use one called textsoap. Clean your article of smart quotes and em dashes, then save the article in text format. When you go to submit your article, make sure you submit the “cleaned” version of it. To double check your work, preview your article before submitting it. Most article directories give you this option during the submission process.
Follow these simple tips developed by the best article marketers in the world and you’ll do just great submitting your articles. If you develop a regular schedule for writing and submitting your articles the process will be even easier. You’ll be a pro before you know it!
