Ever wonder what you look like from someone else’s perspective?
It really is an interesting thing to ponder. Several times when I have been doing some MLM training, specifically communication training, with someone in my Network Marketing Business, I’ve had to show them with a mirror what their face looks like.
The very second they see themselves in the mirror they immediately CHANGE THEIR FACIAL EXPRESSION. What do they change it to? The way they think they look to their MLM business prospects. Very often how they look versus how they think they look is very different.
If you’re one of those who love to people watch, the funniest people-watching situation is when you can sit near a mirror and watch people…look at themselves. It certainly would have made a great Candid Camera skit.
The reason I bring this up is that there is a group of characteristics an MLM business professional must have in order to truly have success in speaking with prospects.
I call these characteristics the 10 Communication Qualities. Once you’re fully knowledgeable about these qualities and have the proper and correct MLM training to learn them, you will be amazed at how much smoother conversations will go with your prospects.
The third quality on my list is to “have a sincere friendly facial expression.”
This third quality means when you’re talking with your prospect, have comfortable eye contact with a sincere, friendly facial expression.
If you are familiar with the other Communication Qualities, this should make completely logical sense to you. See, if you are truly interested in your prospect (1st quality) and you’re not distracted by anything in the environment (2nd quality) this also includes not being distracted by what’s going on INSIDE OF YOU – therefore because you are just simply interested in your prospect you can’t help but have a sincere friendly facial expression.
Oh sure, as your prospect talks your facial expression will change slightly based on what they’re telling you – but it will always revert back to SINCERE and FRIENDLY.
What stops a person from having this desired facial expression?
The number one reason is fear. As the distributor talks with their prospect they’re fearful of how the prospect will react to their MLM business…so their face (if they were to look in a mirror) would have the look of fear or concern. This concerned or worried look is describing what is going on in their head! Your facial expression expresses what you’re thinking.
The second thing that stops a person from having this desired facial expression is that they’ve been given some lame advice about mirroring and matching every move their prospect makes.
Or, the advice that you should always maintain eye contact and they take this to an extreme and end up boring holes through their prospect which intimidates the prospect.
And I should add that you should keep a friendly facial expression even when you’re on the phone, calling prospects. Even though they can’t see you, your expression carries through your voice and the words you say. Just be comfortable with your prospect and maintain comfortable eye contact with a sincere, friendly facial expression.

Network Marketing Basics - It Is The Smallest Things That Make The Biggest Difference!
With all the training online and off that Network Marketers get bombarded with, sometimes we can forget about the little things that can have a huge impact on your business. Here are six things that I feel will help you succeed in your business:
1. Follow-up: I’ve seen thousands of people over the years lose out on recruiting new team members because they forget to follow-up. It’s critical that you create a systematic approach to follow up with your contacts. Purchase some sort of contact management system if your company doesn’t supply one. Make sure to make it regular practice at the end of your day to look over you database and schedule follow-ups for the day to come.
2. Organized office space: If your office is cluttered and a drag to be in then your business will follow. I’ve noticed that when my office is a mess I don’t even want to set foot in it. Obviously that defeats the entire purpose of working at home. So, the solution is to keep a clean office. Just as with checking in on your database at the end of the day, clean up your office before you wrap things up. Even if that means just straightening some papers - it’s the smallest things that make the biggest difference.
3. Your language: The average Networker doesn’t place enough emphasis on proper language when dealing with people. What you say and how you say it plays a huge role in whether or not a person will be attracted to you. The best advice I ever received was to get a recording device so I could listen to myself as I was on the phone with people. Give this a try and you’ll be amazed at what you learn from it!
4. Recognition: As leaders we can get caught up in the fun of building a Successful Mlm business. The checks are great, the company trips, conferences, etc. The problem is that sometimes we can forget where that success is coming from. Take regular time to survey your downline report and identify not just your superstars but your up and coming leaders too. You don’t need to go out and buy plaques for everyone. Even a simple phone call will do the trick. I like to send people hand written cards in the mail. Whatever you do, it will go a long way!
5. Understand home business tax law: This is something that is not only important because it can make sure you are keeping within the law but it can also save you a lot of money! If you have traditionally used H & R Block to do your taxes it’s time to seek out a new CPA. If your cousin Vinny has done your taxes for $20 for the last 10 years it’s time for a change. Open up the yellow pages and find a CPA that has experience working with people in home based businesses. As your income grows in your business you’re going to need a CPA that will go to great lengths to help you maximize your deduction and business potential. Quick test: Did you know that you can’t write off your phone line in your home if you also use it for family calls too? Did you know that you might be able to write off a portion of your mortgage if you have office space specifically devoted to your business? As I said, go find someone who knows what they’re doing!
6. Have Fun: Last but not least - have some fun with your business! Every time I run into people in my organization that feel as if they are “struggling” or “frustrated” I ask them to take a giant step back and look at the big picture. There are so many people in our world that struggle more than we do. All we need to do is look at what certain people have to go through on a daily basis and it puts our frustrations in perspective. When you are researching MLM and Network Marketing Opportunities, you will often find disagreement about what is most important when choosing your business.
Some believe that the longevity and overall stability of the company is most important. Others believe that you should look first at what is actually being sold. Many others feel that the compensation plan and payout is king.
While all of these are valid considerations, the first key to success in this business is your products. The foundation of your business is your MLM products. Excellent products help ensure a stable, long-term residual income. Strong and profitable Network Marketing Businesses are built on a foundation of quality products that have lasting appeal to consumers. Without a foundation based on quality products, all you really have to offer in the long run is a money-making scheme. Opportunities built around mediocre products tied to highly-hyped compensation plans don’t last, and should be avoided. Your products are the foundation of a strong Network Marketing Business, and the compensation plan is the driving force that makes everything work.
Evaluate your product or service based on the following criteria.
1) The Best Mlm Products should not be “faddish” in nature. A faddish product could be something like the “latest and greatest” weight loss drink. This might be very popular for a while, but will lose much of its luster and popularity when the next “latest and greatest” product comes along.
A few years ago, diet cookies were a hot fad that caused a lot of excitement. Entire opportunities were built around these cookies. They were a good example of fad products. If you are willing to take the chance, good money can be made quickly with hot new items like this. Just understand that your business might go away sooner than later, after you have spent lots of time and effort building it. If you want a long-term stable business with residual income, your best bet is to look for products with lasting appeal.
2) The best MLM products should be consumable. With consumable products, you can build up a customer base and enjoy repeat sales over and over. Nutritional supplements, skin care, and most personal care items fall into this category. You can make money with non-consumable products, but the residual income potential is not as good. Repeat sales will not be as high, and many of your customers will probably be one-time buyers. With non-consumable items you are always having to find new customers in order to make any ongoing income, and you will need a lot of referral business from your existing customers.
Examples of consumable items that have been sold through MLM include: nutritional supplements, skin care, cosmetics, and weight loss supplements. Legal, financial, and insurance related services could also be considered consumable since they are usually purchased on a regular basis.
Non-consumable products typically sold through MLM include: water filtration equipment, air purifiers, and electronic gadgets.
3) The best MLM products are premium quality. They will have expensive, high quality ingredients that are not typically used in ordinary consumer products. Your products should work better or taste better than anything you find in a retail store. This premium quality must be real, not just quality based on claims as described in sales literature.
4) Do the products offer real value for the money? Is the actual price that customers (not involved in the business) pay reasonable? Ask yourself these questions. Whatever opportunity you are considering, be sure to try the products for yourself before making a decision. Would you buy them at the retail prices if there was no potential for profit?
5) The products should have broad appeal with a large potential customer base. Nutritional supplements, home care, and other personal care lines are good examples of this. Consider whether the MLM products you are looking at could be used in almost any home. How can they enhance your lifestyle? Do they really work or perform as advertised, or is it mostly hype and slick packaging?
Take time to carefully evaluate what is offered by any opportunity you are considering. Whatever business opportunity you choose, the products are the secret to establishing a long-term residual income. Don’t pass over this step.
