Cold Calling is a Waste of Time and Money in Today’s Mlm Industry and Businesses

Cold calling today is a thing of the past. In fact it is one of the hardest forms of action to be taken by anyone in the MLM Industry or Insurance Industry. Let alone from telemarketers who do their sales pitch on behalf of their companies. In fact we still get such calls till today.

When I first started out in the MLM Industry, I remember making calls to many of friends sounding excited without sharing too much of my business opportunity. Yet at the end of the day when we all met to share, none of my friends were interested at all rather what I got was a dressing down. From that point onwards I didn’t bother to share my business opportunity with any of my friends.

I then moved on and tried cold calling through getting contact numbers of people whom I had conducted surveys at Business Fairs and Trade shows. I was willing to give myself another chance and share my business opportunity. Imagine the rude and shocking truth I received. Almost everyone whom I had made a cold call to turned me down without giving me time to explain my business opportunity let alone introduce myself. This led me to a great disappointment where i was face with rejection after rejection. I soon became burnt out and was wasting money. Where had I gone wrong? It was only much later that I discovered that I was making mistake after mistake!

I was not being professional and building rapport with my client/prospect. I learnt the hard way that never to preach a sales pitch let alone share your business opportunity over the phone. Let me share some examples as to why this is so.

Would you discuss business or insurance over the phone with someone whom you have never met? Rather its always pleasant to meet face to face so that your prospect can see and feel that you are serious and sincere in sharing. Now you wouldn’t want to talk about investments over the phone with your client without showing some visual aids of your portfolio? I guess not. Wouldn’t you be irritated if someone over the phone were to preach his sales talk to you?

We still get such calls today from bank telemarketers or travel agencies trying to promote their latest products or services. Yet without building rapport let alone meeting face to face how can a sale ever be made?

Today its different with the Internet many Mlm Companies and businesses do not make cold calling to their prospects and clients but rather market it online. By doing so they are able to market their services and products to a wider audience and have their clients seek them out.

The next time when you receive a cold call listen to how they share their business with you. You will discover if the caller is sincere in sharing and giving value to you or just pushing you to a sale? I let you be the judge of that.
