International Network Marketing: are You Making the Call?
Network marketing has exploded in recent years onto the International scene. And while the Internet has been a huge factor in that explosion, I would like to suggest that if you are relying solely on the Internet to connect with International prospects, then you are missing out on a tremendous opportunity.
Think about this for a moment: Imagine that you are in North Carolina going about your regular day, when all of a sudden. the phone rings. You check the caller i.d. and do not recognize the number, but you pick it up and say “hello.” On the other end of the line is someone from London and they want to talk with you about an opportunity they have to offer. What is your reaction? That is an intriguing event! Someone in London took the time to pick up the phone and call all the way to the US to speak with you, in particular. It gets your attention, right?
Likewise, if you are building your network marketing team and you locate a prospect in, say, South Africa. Call them! You will get their attention, because that is a unique event. People, in general, are not expecting to receive a call from another country and when they do, it makes them feel special and important. If you will take the time to place that International call, you will have a significant edge over those marketers who sit behind their computers and generate e-mail after e-mail.
One roadblock to recruiting International team members can be the perception that it is expensive to make International calls. And it can be. But when you are resourceful, you will find alternatives to the regular phone systems. Skype allows you to make calls to another Skype member for free. If you are recruiting Internationally, encourage your propsects to get a free download of Skype so that you can communicate easily. Vonage is another potential option, or International calling cards. Informing prospects about Skype or similar resources, and directing them to acquire what is needed is an excellent way to demonstrate leadership. Don’t shy away from making that International call because of the cost. The benefits are well worth the investment.
Take advantage of the awe factor in International team-building by taking the extra step of making the phone call that many of your competitors will not make.
